Assistant Managing Director (Based at Gurgaon)

Job Accountabilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Assist the Managing Director to craft and implement strategic growth initiatives aligned with the company’s vision and goals.
  • Executing both short-term and long-term business strategies, ensuring they contribute to overall company growth, and continuously assessing the performance of these strategies.

Client Relationship Management & Growth

  • Developing and implementing strategies to expand the merchandising business, with a focus on current and potential clients.
  • Leading efforts to cultivate strong, long-lasting client relationships that drive business growth.

Business Solutions & KPIs

  • Identifying and offering solutions to facilitate business plans, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor sourcing and merchandising teams, providing guidance on best practices, performance improvement, and professional growth.
  • Promote a collaborative work environment and facilitate communication between teams.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide actionable feedback to ensure the team’s success.
  • Supporting efforts to restructure and optimize staffing engagement, ensuring the company maintains a strong talent pool.

Product Knowledge & Development

  • Develop deep product knowledge across all categories in Home and Apparel, staying updated on industry standards, materials, sustainability, and innovations.
  • Ensure a comprehensive understanding of fabric composition, textile treatments, hardware materials, furniture production methods, and apparel construction techniques.
  • Regularly evaluate and introduce new materials, finishes, and technologies to enhance product offerings and maintain competitiveness.
  • Provide expert input during product testing, quality control, and sampling processes, ensuring that all products meet the required standards and expectations.

Financial & Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the department’s budget, controlling costs and ensuring profitability for sourcing and merchandising operations.

Ethical Management

  • Upholding the company’s core values and ensuring that ethical practices are adhered to in all operations and management activities.

Ad-hoc Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Managing Director in any additional activities that arise, contributing to the organization’s agile approach.

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to craft long-term growth plans that align with company goals.
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business dynamics, decision-making, and how to translate strategy into actionable plans.
  • Product knowledge: Expertise in product categories (textiles, furniture, hardline, and apparel), with a deep understanding of materials, cost, production methods, and market trends.
  • Client Relationship Management: Proven track record of developing and nurturing client relationships to drive growth.
  • Leadership & Team Building: Strong leadership capabilities, with experience in coaching, developing, and retaining high-performance teams.
  • Ethics & Integrity: Commitment to upholding company values and ethical standards.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to assist in various ad-hoc activities and pivot strategies as needed.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • University degree along with degree in Business Management, Merchandising, or related disciplines is preferred.
  • Over 18+ years’ experience in related industry, with min 8 years at senior managerial level.
